Mechanical Engineer Agri & Food

Location: Wageningen Campus
Type: Full-Time Position
Start: 2023

Function Description

We are looking for engineers, mechanical or mechatronic to make our prototypes market ready! We need your help and expertise to achieve that in the coming years.

Preferably you have experience in horticultural or food engineering, but that is not a hard requirement. If you have experience in taking a concept or prototype and transform it into a market ready product, then we are looking for you.

SAIA is young startup company that is about to fundamentally change fresh food production. We do that by reinventing how plants grow and in such a way that our robots can optimally see and harvest the plants. We move plants to the robots, not the other way around.

We are a tight interdisciplinary team of highly skilled, motivated and ambitious people who love robots, plants, and generally have a good time working together towards this great shared goal of future food security.

In our team, responsibility and ownership of your work are key. We need someone who looks beyond the tasks at hand to recognise future bottlenecks and to look for knowledge and expertise outside of SAIA. Individual, critical thinking and effective communication is highly valued and respected. You will both be working alongside junior colleagues and seasoned engineers and in changing team compositions.

As our new engineer, you will be closely working together with the CTO, a robotics engineering expert. With other SAIA engineers, you will jointly develop market ready machines. We are also looking to expand our strength by outsourcing some work to other bureaus. If you have experience with working with other engineering companies to realise a product, that would be a great plus.

We have a large workshop at the Wageningen Campus where we work on our machines, as well as offices on campus where all plant-, software- and electronic engineers work together. Furthermore, what we are most looking forward to, is to build our own greenhouse nearby where we will test your machine designs.
